Last Year’s Event:Mission:Fruit of the Soul dedicates its energy to preserving and implementing music, art and nutritional education programs in San Diego. We believe these elements are necessary for left & right brain creativity and growth. At Fruit of the Soul, we seek local organizations working to sustain the education and experience of art, music and nutrition in youth and young adult’s lives. These organizations are also in need of community support. We work with our beneficiaries to identify the financial need in area(s) of their program that encompass our mission. We strive to reach each collaborative fundraising goal, assisting these programs through financial support and building community awareness. Fruit of the Soul creates and implements projects which empower youth with educational tools, taking an artistic approach to business learning in the world of creativity. Be Inspired… Give Back & Dance It Out! About the Beneficiaries:“Did you know that the average age of a homeless person in San Diego is NINE YEARS OLD? Today, THERE ARE MORE THAN 2,200 HOMELESS CHILDREN in San Diego and more than 300,000 nationwide. Together, we can change that. It’s a tough reality that not all kids are given the same opportunities. Monarch School works closely with the community and the San Diego County Office of Education to change that. The school provides an accredited education to homeless and at-risk kids while caring for basic needs such as healthcare, food, clothing and personal hygiene. Your help can make a difference.” Monarch School is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (Tax ID # 33-0871354).
ARTS provides visual, performing, and literary arts programs to thousands of kids annually at the Pat D’Arrigo ARTS Center, located at the NTC Promenade in Point Loma. This 7,000 square foot creative space includes visual and ceramic arts studios, a dance studio, music room, digital media room, and children’s art gallery. ARTS also provides Community Outreach Programs to children at various partner sites such as hospitals, residential treatment facilities, shelters, rehabilitation centers, community groups, schools, and more. A Reason To Survive, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (Tax ID # 33-096-3135).
Crop plants will be grown in a manner that would allow children and community members to actively engage in the production of organic fruit and vegetables. Harvested produce will then be used during nutrition classes, cooking demonstrations, and workshops which will be held on a covered patio area and outdoor kitchen (capacity 40) adjacent to the garden. Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (Tax ID # 95-2586060).
